The latest hardware from Dell's Tech Camp

Dell's Tech Camp is an opportunity for the international tech giant to showcase its latest hardware, as well as reveal a few secrets. We were there to get our hands on the latest kit. First up was the Streak 7 Android tablet. One of its highlights is its integration with the Dell Stage media player, which uses DLNA (UPnP) streaming to let you share multimedia files between every device on your network. That's actually what DLNA is designed to do, but the interesting bit is the ability to use any of your Dell devices to remote control the others.

This could get annoying if your kids/irritating flatmate/cats start playing with the controls for whatever you're watching on your living room media centre PC, but we loved the remote control Android app designed for the Streak. It's strongly reminiscent of the way Sonos' wireless mesh network remote control is designed. The Dell Stage Remote app will come pre-installed on all forthcoming Streaks and can be downloaded for older models. Dell is apparently looking into making it more generally available, but it has yet to appear in the general Android Market.

Another part of this integrated media sharing idea involves the Dell SyncUp service, which provides 2GB of online storage (it can be upgraded for a fee) and also allows you to sync content between your different devices, in a similar manner to DropBox.
